Microsoft launching new ‘Tech Series’ Xbox One controllers

Microsoft continues to add to the variety of Xbox One controller on offer, and the next one will be the first in a new ”Tech series” of gamepads, the company announced today. This Tech Series gamepad is the latest deign of the Xbox One wireless controller, a model that Microsoft debuted at E3 last year alongside the Xbox One s.

The controller named, the Recon Tech Special Edition, is inspired by “military technology and performance patterns”, according to Microsoft.

How To Connect Xbox One Controller to your Android and iOS Device

The body of the controller is dark gray, with a matte finish and a laser – imprinted texture and gold colored accents like military insignia. The horns of the controller feature a rubberized grip with a diamond pattern.

This iteration includes Bluetooth support, allowing for wireless gaming on a PC without a USB dongle. The same applies to controllers from the Xbox Design Lab, which are customizable — although it’s not probable to replicate all the details of the gamepads Microsoft sells, like thumbstick accents — and start at $79.99.

Microsoft will release the Recon controller worldwide on April 25. The gamepad will cost $69.99, the same as all of the “special edition” Xbox One controllers.

Xbox One Elite Wireless Controller vs. Recon Tech Special Editions:

The Recon Tech series Special Edition does not really give players an edge in the games that they play. As compared to the $59.99 stock wireless controllers of the Xbox one, the changes are almost purely cosmetic.

For Xbox One owners looking to take their game to the next level, the Xbox One Elite Wireless Controller would be a better alternative due to its finely tuned sensors and extensive customization options, with compatible paddles and swappable components.

The price of the Elite controller, however, stands at $149.99, which is more than double that of the Recon Tech Special Edition.

As such, customers looking to advance tech series the wireless controllers from the stock version will have to choose xbox one controller whether they just want their new controller to look cooler or if they also want to be able to apply customizations.
