Google Maps: Now Let you Create, Share, Follow ‘Lists’ of Places on Google Maps

Things to see:

  • The new feature of Google Maps is now rolling out to Android, iOS apps.
  • Now, users will be able to create, share, and follow Lists
  • Also user can view and edit their lists offline.

Google has revealed the Google Maps ‘Lists’ Feature, and also declared its availability in India. The Google Maps List feature gives users the capability to define places they want to recommend to family and friends. The availability of the Google Maps directions was announced on Monday, the Google Company says it will be available on both the Android and iOS apps.

Google Maps users in India said the search giant in an emailed statement now you can create lists of places, share lists with others, and follow the lists of friends and family when they are shared with them. Users will be able to view and edit their lists offline, and if they have offline maps downloaded, places added to the lists will appear on the offline map too.

Google said in the statement, “you can also make list of places you wish to visit with your suggestions, whether it is a list of weekend exits, or a list of best street food joints, or best fashion boutiques in a Particular area along with others.”

In Google blog Post Google said there are two ways to create a list.

In the First way, users have to open to side menu, go to Your places, open Saved, and then click on the + sign in the blue circle at the bottom right corner of the screen.

The Second way is for users to open the place preferred to be added to a new list, tap on Save, and then select Create a new list.

To share a list, Google said users need to open their list, and then click on the Share button on the top right hand corner. After that they can share the ensuing link to their list via apps on their phone, such as Hangouts, SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook, and even Twitter.

When the recipients click on the link, it will be given the option to Follow the List within Google Maps. They will then have the list saved in the Your places section of the app.

You can also edit the list, for edit a list, users need to go to the Your places section and then Click the Saved tab. After that they will need to tap on the three dot menu google maps, google maps directions, google maps places , maps googleto the right of the list and then click Edit list.

Users will also be able to add and remove places from lists directly from a location’s place area by tapping the Saved icon.

This is a great new addition to Google Maps, although there is a possible problem. These lists naturally only work with Google Maps directions, so using them make sure you are locked into service. With any luck, Google will eventually add an export function.
