Do I need a better processor to upgrade my graphics card?

I'm going to preface this by saying that I know very little about computers.
I was looking to play some new games I had just installed, and when I went to play, because of, I'm assuming, how big the game is, it's unplayable. Delay when trying to use my mouse and controls. Because of this I was looking into getting a graphics card. My current graphics are integrated (Intel HD graphics 630), and the card I was looking to get was a GTX 1050 2GD 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 ATX Video Card. My current processor is an Intel Core i5-7400 @ 3.00GHz.
So I have two questions:
1. Will that graphics card work with my current processor?
2. The higher I go with new graphics cards, will I also need to upgrade my processor along with it?

1. yes
2. perhaps but also other parts as you move up the gpu ladder.

The hd630 is not designed for gaming.... add to that many machines have single channel ram which does not help the igp perf.
