WhatApp Will Now Support Gifs

WhatsApp is on a roll with its updates and adding new features for its users. Now it has included a much needed addition to the messenger- gif support. Viber recently launched an update where it added support for gifs on its chat screens. And this time WhatsApp wasn’t far behind.

WhatsApp for iOS’ latest beta release (v2.16.7.1) apart from various bug fixes and improvements, brings support for supporting and playing gif images.

As of now, it’s uncertain when gif image support will go live for general release, or its release on Android. The changes in the latest beta release of WhatsApp for iOS were first spotted by @WABetaInfo.

Changes listed by the team include support for auto-playing gif images when shared as a link, the ability to save the gif image to your camera roll (including the option to save it as a simple image), the ability to directly reply to gif image messages, encryption support for gif sharing, and support for Peek and Pop (3D Touch) actions on gif images.

WhatsApp is also on works to include video calling, into its paraphernalia of services which is clearly evident in its beta releases.

Stay tuned for further updates.
