Google released final Android 7.1.1 Developer sample 2 for Nexus devices earlier this week. Now we have an idea of the exact release date of the update.

Vodafone Australia has said that Google will release Android 7.1.1 update to Nexus 6P on December 6. The update will be related with next month’s security patch for Nexus phones.

If Nexus 6P is receiving the update, it is very likely that Nexus 5x, Nexus 9, Nexus player and Pixel C will also get the latest Nougat 7.1.1 update around same time.

Huawei Nexus 6P users are advised to make sure their device is fully charged before they download the update. Also, it is important you back up important data such as photos, contacts, messages etc.

Users will be prompted when the Firmware over-The –Air update is available for download. The update can also be downloaded from system updates option in about tab of setting menu.

This means that all Nexus 6P users are probable to receive the Android Nougat 7.1.1 update by December 20. However, Google hasn’t made the information official yet. Google’s new update brings with it new features such as app shortcuts and image keyboard support.

Meanwhile, a journalist as well as pod caster has also tweeted that the entire Nexus family will get Android 7.1.1 update on December 6. Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones already run Android 7.1 . Earlier this month Nougat debuted to the Android distribution charts and is present on only 0.3 % of all only Android devices.
