Instagram announced two new features today, live vanishing video on Instagram Stories and a new Snapchat competitor, disappearing photos and videos in Instagram Direct.
Live Video on Instagram Stories
Instagram is hoping that the fading aspect of their new live video feature will persuade posts that are more natural and unplanned.
A user can just take right into the Stories camera, take their photo or video and then edit it. Then just tap the arrow at the floor to share this secretly with a friend. In order to create a group, just tap on ‘New Group’ feature on the top right when you are in the Direct Messages folder.
Instagram’s Snapchat Competitor
With this new feature Instagram users can send failing photos and videos to friends and groups, just like Snapchat. Again, the vanishing aspect is designed to encourage use of the feature between friends without the worry of making a perfect post. As with Snapchat you will see when someone saw your post of took a screenshot.
