Recently, a listing of a OnePlus smartphone with the model number A5000 was spotted on China’s Radio Regulation Authority’s database. This has all but confirmed the fact that the next OnePlus flagship is going to be called the OnePlus 5.

The OnePlus 3 had the model number A3000 and the OnePlus 3T had the model number A3010. Thus, going by the company’s naming standards, a model number of A5000 clearly points towards the name OnePlus 5.

The name OnePlus 4 is being skipped due to the fact that the number 4 in Chinese is considered bad luck as it sounds like the Mandarin Chinese word for death.

The OnePlus 5 is rumoured to be quite a comprehensive update over its predecessor. It is expected to come with 8GB of RAM, the Snapdragon 835 SoC, the Adreno 540 GPU, a 3,000mAh battery and upto 256GB of internal storage
