How to configure (setup) Gmail in outlook 2016
Step 1: First, we need to enable IMAP protocol access in Gmail. To do that, log into Gmail and click the Settings gear and choose Settings from the menu.
Step 2: Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
Step 3: Click Enable IMAP and click the Save button at the bottom.
Step 4: Now you may choose to Sign Out of Gmail.
Step 5: In Outlook 2016, click the File ribbon, Account Settings, Account Settings….
Step 6: Click New…
Step 7: Choose Manual Setup or additional Server types and click Next.
Step 8: Choose POP or IMAP and click Next.
Step 9: Fill in your information and click More Settings…
Step 10: Click Outgoing Server. Put a checkbox on “My Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication”.
Step 11: Click the Advanced tab. Fill in the ports for incoming and outgoing servers then click OK.
Step 12: Click Next.
Step 13: Click Close to dismiss the “Test Account Settings” dialog box.
Step 14: Click Finish to close the Add Account dialog box.
Step 15: Click Close to close the Account Settings dialog box.
As you can see, my Gmail account is now connected and I get email from the server.
