Gears of War 4 Updates: gets two new maps and a Valentine’s Day event
Gears of War 4: Microsoft released a new update for Gears of War 4, available for Xbox One and PC. It adds two new maps, which are available to season pass holders of the game. Microsoft also announced a Valentine’s Day event for Gears of War 4 that will start on February 10.
Microsoft told that in a press release sent to GamesBeat, “Gears of War 4 has always held the holidays, and this Valentine’s Day is no different”,” February 10 marks the beginning of over a week of Valentine’s Day celebrations, with new Gear Packs to earn, daily Valentine’s themed bounties, another Craftable Character to collect, and the much-requested return of Torque Bow Tag.”

According to The Coalition, “The First map of Gears of War 4, titled Impact Dark, It will be “a remixed version of Impact that completely re-imagines the combat dynamics of the original”. In Impact Dark will have a nighttime setting with visibility permanently reduce by smoke. Snipers will be swapped out with Boltoks, Dropshot replaces Torque/EMBAR, and the Overkill replaces incendiaries, all in an effort “to alter the flow of the map.”
When the second map of Gears of War 4, titled War Machine is a “drastic new take” on the map from the original Gears of War. For now, on the topic of War Machine, the dramatic changes are as follows. “Moving away from the old abandoned train station locale, War Machine is now set in a new COG settlement, standing out with its perfect appearance and glossy high-flying features. Compared to the original, signs of life are everywhere- from the active DeeBee security bay, to the train sitting at the end of the Platform ready to go away”.
In Other Words, Impact Dark and War Machine are the two new maps. Impact Dark is based on the existing Impact stage. It changes the level’s dynamic by reducing visibility with darkness and smoke. War Machine is an updated version of a map from the original Gears of War. You can see both levels in the video below.
