Your Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch might be about to get a lot more luxurious.
A number of new devices have been launched by some of the world’s important consumer brands, who are looking to make the smartwatch the new must-have accessory this year.
The new watches including offerings from high-end brands such as Hugo Boss, Diesel and Tommy Hilfiger, who have taken their wraps off new devices at the Baselworld 2017 event in Switzerland.
Samsung Gear S3 Frontier just got a SUPER luxurious Android Wear 2.0 competitor
First up is the Hugo Boss Touch, which sports a minimalistic design that fits the brand’s high-end visual, the Hugo Boss Touch looks very much like a traditional wristwatch.
There’s no news on hardware or pricing information yet, but we’re expecting the Touch to be a reasonably costly item to go alongside Hugo Boss’ premium watches, which retail for around £300.
Another trendy new appearance is the Tommy Hilfiger TH24/7, which according to Wareable will go on sale for around $299 (£237).
Much like the Hugo Boss device, the TH24/7 personally resembles a traditional watch, and will be available with your choice of a leather or metal strap.
Lastly, there is the Diesel On, which looks to set itself more in the uneven sports watch market.
The image posted online shows a large-screen device with a strong leather strap and bulky build that should be perfect for outdoor use.
There’s also three side buttons for navigation and scrolling, similar to other Android Wear devices such as the LG Watch Sport on the market today.
Diesel has at least exposed some information on the on, which will be powered by the Snapdragon 2100 chipset and cost $325 (£258) when it goes on sale later this year.
Samsung was also present at Baselworld 2017 last week, showing off a whole new look at the Samsung Gear S3 with three new concept devices.
The concepts include an “updated take” on the original Samsung Gear S3, sporting a premium finish and design with luxury materials.
There is also a classic pocket watch concept which blends the Samsung Gear S3’s technological know-how with established design, and a third device which at appears to be a typical smartwatch, but upon closer examination is really an analogue watch.
In spite of the increased competition, the Samsung Gear S3 remains the Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch to beat.
Samsung Gear S3 Available in two versions, Frontier and Classic, Samsung’s device is available today.
Meanwhile, the Classic variation “pays homage to the minimalist, elegant style found in the most iconic timepieces,” according to Samsung.
Samsung Gear S3 Frontier has been designed to act as both a fitness-minded watch, as well as a leisure wearable.
