Micromax, primarily a phone company but increasingly diversifying its product line-up, has launched a laptop. Although the company had earlier announced a few 2-in-1 devices, this laptop part of company’s Alpha series is the first proper laptop from Micromax. For now only one model [LI351568W] with 15.6-inch screen and the Core i3 5005U processor has been launched.
It has been priced at Rs 26,990. It will be sold exclusively at Flipkart, at least in the beginning. The laptop uses Windows 10. It has a 4-cell battery, 6GB RAM, 500GB internal storage and a weight of 2.1kg. “The laptop also comes loaded with the powerful dual speakers for the entrainment aficionados which enable louder sound, deeper bass and unmatched sound and clarity,” said a Micromax spokesperson.
With the phone market turning into an hyper-competitive space, companies are increasingly looking to branch out into the other product categories. The latest laptop from Micromax is company’s fourth laptop. At the same time, Micromax has also dipped its toes into the TV market. Recently the company launched first three smart TVs.
Other companies too are doing the same. Xiaomi recently launched its first laptop in China. Christened Mi Book Air, Xiaomi, laptop is however a little bit more upmarket, hoping to compete with Apple’s MacBook Air. Then there is LeEco, which recently launched smart TVs with 4K resolution, in India.
